I have the same problem, mine doesn't work, and i don't know why. I even attempted to rewire the whole setup, still not luck.

i dont think mine worked when i got the car. can somebody clear up if the fuse for that source is under the hood or under the steering wheel? im just getting ready to buy a passport 8500 x50 and now this crap! im so pissed. i know the wires in there good too cause it clicked when i snapped it in after installing my shifter. it was a pita to clip in too.

Did you take the console apart and check to make sure it's plugged in? Stupid idea, but just a suggestion.

the fuse might have blown again? You might try and follow the cable and see if its cut anywhere.

Do you mean the ciggy lighter isnt working?

Look at the chart posted above and replace the specific fuse...

ok let me say this again.. i replaced the fuse. the cig lighter in the center console works, so wouldnt they be on the same fuse anyways? the wire isnt cut, gashed or anything. still no power to the outlet by the shifter. would replacing the outlet do anything? i tried hooking the working one up on the broken outlets wire, but the connector pieces are different. im still at a loss and really want to have this fixed. its this little stuff that really bugs me.

I would test the voltage coming to the back of the actual cigarette lighter socket with a multimeter. If you have 12V to that point, then the actual socket/lighter is likely faulty. If you do not have 12V to the socket/lighter, then you likely have a faulty circuit or wiring problem.

whats the tool called that tests it? also, i was wondering if u think it would be possible to move the other cig lighter to the spot by the shifter and keep the other one disconnected. it seems like it would work, but can somebody tell me how to remove the emergency brake handle?? i need to get that off to remove the console.

i guess i only need to remove the plastic visible piece. how do i do that?

Did you try replacing the cig lighter? It's only about $2 at the auto store.
