I have a 69 mustang with a 351.Bought a power steering setup off a 302.The bracket that mounts to the water pump,doesnt allow the pump to move over enough to lineup with the bolt whole in the head.Im assuming the bracket for a 351 must be different.Does anyone have the right bracket,or maybe a source to buy one? 75 mustangII

This snow quits Id really like to drive this mustang out of the garage.Anyone got any ideas where the right bracket could be had?

Ford used an "adapter" bracket that bolted to the heads for this. I've had at least three different ones, two were aluminum, one was cast iron. They're kind of triangular shaped, two drilled holes to bolt it to the head, and two cast bosses with drilled and tapped holes for the accessory bolt to screw into. Sorry I can't post pics of this piece here. I may have an extra in my shop, if I find it later, I'll post a pic on ym Photobucket site later today. Of these brackets, one's for the rigth head, the other for the left. They were used on both the 302's and 351's in the 70's.

D, the front plate bracket is also different on the 351 isn't it? He may need that too. Or does that depend on the waterpump?

I'm pretty sure the 302's and 351's in the 70's used the same brackets, with the adapter brackets on the heads to compensate for the head bolt hole elevation changes. Pulleys for both are the same in those years, with maybe the Mustang II stuff being different. The Mustang II 302 waterpump pulley was carried over to be used in the early to mid 80's in some applications. I have one of these that came with a front dress from an 84 T-Bird. Ford made so many different front accessory drive setups for small blocks, that it's damn near impossible to keep up with it all. Seems anything is possible.

D. Hearne,Ihave a triangular shaped bracket on the passenger side that hooks up the alternator.I guess the one I need is the triangular bracket that fits on the drivers side.Tried a alternator bracket that CJ had but it builds it out to far, and bolt whole doesnt line up.My 351 is a early 90s block Im having a hell of a time getting everything to come together.Thanks for the replies

Yea, thats the one I'm talking about. There's two versions, one for each side of the motor, They look alike, but would be mirror images of each other. Block year doesn't matter, they're all alike in regard to bolt hole location. Timing covers are different in regard to accessory bracketry. An early 90's Windsor would likely have a reverse rotation waterpump timing cover, unless it was pulled from a Crown Vic (but I'm not 100% on this, I know the Vic 5.0's used a std rotation timing cover and pump)

Thanks D.Hearne,I guess the one i need, is the triangular bracket that will bolt up on the drivers side.Does anyone have one?My buddy owns a junk yard but he keeps crushing all the old stuff.Keep telling him to stop. But the price of scrap is so high. Thanks again
