I am attempting to remove a power steering pump. how do i keep the pulley from turning when removing the bolt...

the pulley is loose as in not pressed on to the shaft any more. It seems the previous owner stripped the threads out of the shaft but i am not 100% sure as i cant get the bolt out.

how do get the bolt out?

I am assuming the pulley has to be pressed on and off enlighten me if that is not the case.

hope this is clear enough and any help would be great

You will need a power steering pump pulley remover to remove the pulley from the pump. And you will need a pulley installer tool to push the pulley on to the shaft when installing the pulley.

Jam a screwdriver behind it.

I figured out the problem. previous owner screwed a bolt in to the front of it.
