i have a 1988 Gt coverted to the mass air. and when i am driving in 1st and i take my foot off the gas and like roll my car starts to like power surge i was wonder if their is a way to fix this. i was reading a catolog and i came across a air adjuster and it says it eliminates power surges ,but they dont make it for an 88 because they dint come with mass air..so what do i do ?? any help would be great.

traitor - go back to SD. :) J/K. welcome to the world of the bad idle surge (said to be worse on maf cars).
i thought the idle plate went between the IAC and TB..?? why couldnt you use it. i think jerry beach tried one, on his 88.
the VSS and puter will keep the rpms up in neutral while rolling.

good luck.

thanks for the info so you dont know if their is a way to get rid of it i heard it has to do with mass air and the injectors or something like that..but not sure it dosent really bother me cause the only time its bothers me is when i take my foot off the gas and thats never..

i was kinda playing with you. there is no one cure for the surge (i do get it with my SD set up too). for some, the idle plate works, for some it does not. i might search and read threads about it (there are many). you would learn more and get a better feel than if you waited for people to post on this or another thread.

the IAC is clean right? you can also clean the salt and pepper connectors (10 pin connectors). for some, those alone have helped the surge. also check the TPS setting.

you can pick up a used plate (from those that it did not work for), for 10-15 bucks or so, if you want to try it.

my two cents. good luck. (and do enjoy the maf upgrade - i was kidding). :)
