I want to add power windows to my 87 vert. I have the motors already. I pulled off the crank, but I cannot figure out how the motor bolts to the regulator. Anybody done this before? Do i need a different regulator? Any body got pics? Thanks a bunch!

You need the power window regulators. They are very different, as the window motor bolts on to them from inside the door. If you really want to do this, you will need both of the regulators, the door wiring, all the wiring between the doors with the rubber door boots, new door panels, new arm rests and switches, and probably power locks if you don't already have them. All the PW armrests already have PL switches.

I did the change since I got a mint GT interior for my LX that had PW & PL door panels. It was not hard, just took some time drilling out rivets and running the wires. It hooks to the power with two wires in one plug by the fuse box. You would also need a circuit breaker for the fuse box to power the stock wiring.

If yoou remove a power regulator from a donor car, be careful since it is spring loaded to help the window go up. I almost pinched my fingers on mine! Use a long bolt, nut and washer to hold the spring loaded regulator in place when installing it. Or maybe a screwdriver.

Good luck!

Good call there trbkrb. I did this too, and couldn't have said it better.
The only thing I would add, is that since you would be inside the door already, replace the window guide bushings They are pretty cheap from 50Resto and will stop the window from rocking back and forth.
