powershifting..transmission concern

I want to start experimenting with powershifting at the track, however I'm uncertain if the stock T-5 can take it and last for any length of time.. What should I consider in upgrades and retrofitting the Cobra for this new type of abuse? Thanks!

All I do is powershift and my T5 held up for awhile I finally replaced it after 160K.
Upgrade to a Tremec and a Steeda Tri-Ax and you can beat the piss out of it!

I've driven my car for the past 3-4 years, and taught myself to powershift on this car. It has well over 200 powershifts on it, and is still going strong. That figure is not counting all those that I missed . Missing a shift is what really tears up the trans.

The faster you do it, the quicker you get out of harms way.

A well executed powershift should only bring the RPMs up <50 RPM, in first gear, and about 25-30 in all other gears. If you are going 100 or 200 RPM in between shifts, you are taking entirely too long.

Can't be worried about the tranny, you either wanna race it or drive it normal... i slam the hell out of mine and i've broke them, only a 300$ repair though

I have the 3550 and couldn't be happier.

i powershift on the motor quite often with my combo. the t-5 is still holding up, albeit it's really starting to sing.

I recently learned how to powershift after installing a new clutch. Soon after 3rd blew out after executing a perfect powershift that chirped the tires and blew trans at the same time.

Id upgrade. The 3550 is one that a few have on this board and it seemd to do them just fine. Im thinking of that one myself. That or a g-force.

The T45 is will not fit our cars I THINK. It is the tranny the 4.6s come with factory if I had the money I would go TR-3550

I talked to a Tremec rep this weekend and he said that the TKO 600 replaces the 3550. That is eventually what I am going for. Until then, I baby the heck out of my T-5. I need to focus my funds elsewhere right now (motor upgrades).
