PRE DETONATION

Guys, picking up my car from the shop today. Had head gaskets replaced. The old gasket he took out of the car had like 6 or 7 holes blew through it and damage along the holes for coolant and oil. The machanic is telling me im getting really bad detonation. The thing is i was never getting this before and all the parts are brand new, was it just because the gasket was on wrong and it just got really blew out, or do i have bad detonation? I have no boost retard on their but my tuner tuned around it. I just cant figure out why all of the sudden i wuold be getting pre det?!
 
I was changing my spark plug wires yesterday and mixed 2 of them up. 5 and 6 were swapped and my car was detonating bad. So maybe check your spark plug wires and make sure they are in the right order on the cap.
 
When did you blow your HG's and how did it happen?
If your HG's were on wrong you would of had serious cooling issues.
What parts are brand new?
Even if your car was tuned, if your tuner is not riding around with you changing your settings due to weather conditions etc. Your car will detonate every now and then from something or another and you must recognize and tackle the issue to stop the ping. Whether it be removing the spout, changing sensors, running codes, retard timing manually, BTM etc.
You must stop the ping b/c the first time you WOT that mofo and it detonates, "forget about it...." You will be putting on another set.
FYI: Learn how to do this yourself and save # in the long run. :D

You have a boosted car now, things will never be the same. It's like having a kid, so just plan on putting $$ into it forever.
 
well all the fuel system and ignition is new. I blew the HG the first time last month just dropping the hammer and it blew. Than i replaced them myself and did something wrong, took it out to Taco Bell (yeah i love tacos haha) and at WOT it blew again. So this time i take it to the shop and the guy takes the old ones off and they are just F****CKED and they were like a week old. I also had a bad backfire when i first tried to start it..could that have caused Pre det? I dont know...I just called the hsop and told them to change the timing to a safer number.......he said i need a boost retard but im trading the car in on thur, i am just worried that they will blow before thur. If they DYNO and TUNE it, will that tell them whats going on or give me a better chance of not pre detonating????? Any input is GREATLY appreciated
