Predator Tuning

After reading that article I noticed they had no pinging after advancing the spark timing even more then the provided tune with 91 octane. Is that normal? I got pinging with the provided tune on 91 octane.

You may still have some 87 oct in your tank. Make sure you do a complete fill up with 91+ oct b4 advancing your timing. I run 93 oct and +10% timing on the DSP and no pinging at all.

Every engine is different. Some cars ping with 87. Some don't. I went to +10% over the Performance Tune without any pinging with 93 octane.

Do you increase +10 on both the upper and lower rev ranges? I put 94 octane but haven`t touched the power tune yet. I don`t even know how you would hear pinging in the upper rev range. The engine is so darn loud.

I had the same problem on 93 and that's all I had run in several months (no chance of lingering 87).. I had to retard the timing by 5% just to get it to stop which was hurting my top end. It was happening in third between about 3800 and 4200 rpms. Right now I'm running the stock hp tune with the timing advanced 10% and no pinging, still matched my best et..

I just ran Seafoam over the weekend and it helped. I turned the timing back to the diablo original and no pinging on 91 oct. It was also 10F hotter so I may try bumping the timing more. Guess I had some carbon buildup. Something to try. :flag:

I know I'm probably about to really sound like a newb but what is Seafoam, a fuel additive?

It's a motor treatment. You use a vac line to suck it into your engine while idling. It will clean up carbon deposits but it creates a good amount of smoke in the process. My car didn't smoke as much as the video I have seen, it all depends on how dirty your engine is. You can also pour it into your oil and gas and it will clean those systems as well or so they say. :nice:

I doubt Chili has carbon build up issues on his 2004.
