The other night I was coming home and the freeway goes uphill at a pretty decent angle. So, I punched it and noticed a huge plume of smoke behind me. So i just cruised slowly home, I busted out the flashlight and noticed a lot of oil on the right side of my car. All the way from the header collector, to the bend on my side exhaust. Now, the amount of oil towards the back of the car wasnt as dramatic, but towards the front, there was enought that it dripped off of my x-pipe. I lookd in the engine compartment and noticed a pool of oil behind the lower manifold. I dont think the seal back there is bad. I was thinking maybe a bad vavle cover gasket, but that seems like a buttload of oil for just a valve cover gasket. I needed new valve seals on a few cylinders anyhow, so that is going to be replaced. Where else could all that oil have come from? I doubt it is the rear main seal, because the oil is splashed around as high as the header collector. That, and I just replaced the old leaky seal a couple months ago. Maybe the PCV popped out, but it seemed to be in tact when i looked under the hood...
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

, no but seriously.. Iwould try to find the highest point there is oil. Lower intake manifold or valve cover are very possible.. If you suspect eather and still are unsure you can always clean them down with brake clean( engine cold!) or degreaser. Run the engine after doing so and inspect for oil seapage or leaks.
