No, but i do wait until i get to about 1/8th tank. Leave something in there to cool off the pump.

What usually gets left out...The US and Canada are two of the most reasonable places in the world to get gas. (Excluding middle east and non developed countries).

Just imagine that for a second. Now you know why public transportation is so popular across the pond and not so much here.


It's always suprised me how cheap gas is here considering everything that's involved. From the mega expensive drilling operations and all the crews working on that end of it, then the cost of transporting it across oceans by tankers for the imported stuff. Then by truck to refineries and all the folks working in those giant places. Those places are insane.

I'm a lineman and work on the powerlines. I've worked in refineries on shutdowns and I find it hard to believe any one person actually knows everything that goes on there. They are tremendously large and complex. They can draw 1600-2400 Mwh of electricity a day. Here's a chart I found on just the cost of electricity for an oil refinery to operate. This is PER DAY. This all gets factored into the cost of gas.



It's also transmitted in pipelines under your feet you probably didn't even know existed. (Look up Enbridge pipelines). They run from the gulf to Canada and everywhere else in between. Some up to 48" and 1000 psi. They have a huge workforce constantly inspecting and repairing these lines. The orange lines are crude pipelines and the storage facility's are marked woth circles. Think what it takes to keep that all up.



When people complain about the price of gas I don't think the are really considering the immense operation behind it all. A gallon of milk is 5 bucks and they just squeeze that stuff out of cows

My old company was Kinder Morgan…80,000 miles of pipe from 42” and down. ET is big but not KM big. I work at a smaller company now with about 2300 miles and the regulatory headache is the same but a much better place to work.

Just remember how much our refineries process compared to the rest of the world and we are damn good at it. We have a domestic oil supply so that cuts costs as well.

I have a buddy that works in Qatar and gas is sub $1 but they subsidize the crap out of it vs the rest of the world that taxes the crap out of it.

Other reasons refined petroleum products are cheaper here is we consume more so buying in bulk has always been cheaper. We have more cars more miles of paved road and we fly everywhere because we can. We have one of the best rail infrastructures in the world and they use diesel motors to turn electric generators to power the electric motors that move the trains.

It’s a big world out there fellas.

Just because other countries pay more for gas doesn't make it any easier on an already taxed, fixed income or for those struggling to make ends meet. I thought we were talking about prices rising recently and not the average fuel price.
I'm not alone when I dislike rising costs.

I'm not complaining about living in the U.S.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

My dad retired from the Richmond, ca chevron refinery. His last job was a ‘vibration technician’ (I think?). He would go around to pumps and take their vibration readings then analyze the readings… that’s how they could tell a pump was going bad, if it vibrated outside its specification. Or something along those lines. He was there for like 25 years and had many jobs. I think his longest job was just a repair technician going around and fixing whatever needed to be fixed.

Now that refinery is apartments and condos and parks.

Nothing to add to the gas price conversation, just a tidbit of information.

Im glad I know how to get fuel discounts........I have a 33 gallon tank in my F250 and usually fill up with between 29-31 gallons every 2 weeks.

My modified 86 GT doesn’t get driven a lot, but the gas mileage is lousy since the modifications were done. Last tank I made it a point to drive normally (no foot-to-the-floor acceleration) and still got less than 11 MPG.

Same here. It's a hog.

If you really want to drop the fuel mileage put a bigger intercooler and pipes on that ST and get it tuned.





This is one is my buddy’s and it’s right at 600 hp with E-85 and is scary fast!

I hear you. My buddy is a full blown retard and said warranty be dammed. He also just bought a new Rousch Stage 3 F150 and already ordered pulleys, CAI, and tune.

I waited until the bumper to bumper was out on my F150 before the CAI and tune went in. Still had the power train warranty but just could not wait any longer. The shifting on the 10R80 is waaaaaay better.
