All I can say is, I don't know why in the hell I waited so long. Wow, what a difference! Install was a snap; had it finished in an hour. Actually it wouldn't have taken that long if I could've got the old one off the tranny a little quicker. I had my 3rd gear synchro and shift fork replaced about 20,000 miles back and they must have caked the RTV on the shifter when they reinstalled it because I had to go up under the car and literally pry it off. I've never had that much trouble removing a shifter before. Shifts are a ton shorter and more precise which means more WOT time and less shifting time. Why oh why does Ford not use something similar in these cars from the factory? I understand why they put all that rubber on the stock shifter, but I personally would rather have a shifter like the Pro 5.0 in it from the factory then to have the sound dampening, spongy feeling thing that comes stock. Now it's time to go have some fun!!!

What tools are required for the install?

I used 8, 10, and 13mm sockets and a ratchet with an extension, a 1/2" wrench for the stops on the new shifter, a flathead screw driver (which I had to use underneath the car to pry the stock shifter off), and an allen wrench to attach the shifter to the handle. You will also need some RTV adhesive to seal the new shifter to the tranny. There are only 4 steps in the directions, but it's pretty straight forward.

Check out my site if you want to stop using RTV silcion and if the nosie and vibration from your Pro 5.0 is too much.

Thanks for the advice man, but it's already on the car and I don't have much whine at all so I'll probably just leave it alone. If it does start making a lot of noise I'll probably look into ordering it.

I had a piece stay on the stock shifter when I removed it.It was a little black piece that stuck on the little ball at the end that I had to transfer over to the new shifter.Might be something to watch out for if someone is doing another install.

This is true...and it has to be put on the aftermarket shifter. Not a big deal...but it is something that someone may not notice.

short throws are awesome. i have one in my 5.0 and it rocks. i know the cobras come with one but it doesnt have the full feeling like a real short throw. i drive my cobra alot and i feel it like a short throw but i want one like my 5.0 so i might swap it out with a pro 5.0 later.

I went weeks unhappy with my Hurst cause I didn't do this. The instructions told me to put it in the tranny. :nonono:
Once I put it on the ball on the tranny.... :hail2: :nice: :hail2: :nice:
