My understanding was that they were briefly out of business. Some of the employees bought the equipment and opened back up under the name of Professional Mass Air Systems. I sent my mass air to them a couple months back and had it recalibrated. Works great. New website is www.massairsystems.com

Mine took a crap on me. Will they fix it?

What symptoms have any of you experienced from a bad mass air meter?

Yes they will fix it, it's $100.

A bad meter is tough to diagnose.

The way my buddy does it, is he uses and old school Pro M optimize Meter.

Not the newer version, this one looks like a normal meter, but if has the dials on the sensor. Near impossible to find.

If you know anyone with the same meter calibration, do a quick swap and see if the car runs right.

92GreenLX,
I just finished a long, drawn out headache with a bad meter. The car ran rich across the whole range, it had no throttle response, power was WAY down for the combination, it wouldn't cruise below 2000 rpm, and the gas mileage was bad (no better than 10mpg).
If you unplug the meter w/ the engine running and the car runs a little better when it goes back to its base map, that's a good tipoff. My Pro-M meter's electronics were bad enough that my car ran worlds better with a stock one in its place, even though the stock meter is, of course, not calibrated for my 24's. If you send yout meter to PMAS, they'll flow-check it first to see if it's bad.

If you have a voltmeter can't you tap into the signal return line and check the voltage at the computer. I think Jrrichker or Hissin has the chart that the voltage should be at different speeds. Would this be able to tell if a maf is bad? Im sure the new pro-m companys tester would test alot more of the elctronics right?

Yeah, but that requires a decent understanding of what the voltage curve should look like. I'll freely admit I don't have that, sometimes just trying another part can give decent results in diagnostics. Worked for me, anyway.

Talk to them before you send it in -- if you have an unusual air inlet piping configuration they sometimes recommend you send not just the meter, but the air inlet configuration piping as well. And they'll calibrate the meter with your whole set up in place.
