I had the exact same problem. I sent it back for a refund and put a 76mm C&L on and it works fine.

You guys have had good luck with the C&L's, I have been thinking on buying a new air meter, I just haven't figured out which one to go with

I basically told C&L to piss off because they did not make an application for my 94-95. I have no intentions of going to C&L and don't like the prices of Pro -m but if they are sending out chitty meters for the high dollars they charge, I don't know wtf to do. I need a 24# meter soon for my conversion and it needs a flange not a bullet. Hard to find. Ford Racing has some but not very advertized. I'll dig deeper

It seems like people are split right down the middle on this- Pro-M versus C&L. Can't explain what your problem might be, but I would send it back and stick to what works for you (the C&L in this case). I've had a C&L for 2 seasons now and no complaints yet, have heard the same from Pro-M users. Seems like a coin flip, unfortunately.

the only reason i purchased the pro m is because they will burn it to your mods instead of the c&l that tricks the computer but if the pro m wont even let my car run and makes it backfire then ill just trick the computer with the c&l. dont think pro m will get it right the third time around.

Have you modified your air intake? I see C&L make a meter for your year car. Why do you need a flange style? Just curious.
