I'm installing my new shifter (with the Kona handle) and have gotten past setting the gear stops, I've test driven and am putting it back together now...

The Pro50 directions talk about reusing the inner boot but I'm not understanding how to...

Can anyone help explain this to me?

I would assume over. Did you silicone the base?

Yes, siliconed the base...The base of the Pro50 is wider than the stock shifter though...In this case I wouldn't reuse the snap wring? Also, the gear stops cause a problem on the inside and outside...

Am I overthinking this?

I think so I think it is a shame as it looks so cool to me anyway
The ring no worky cause it not the same you do want it covered best you can but there is the other boot to cover that bolts too
right? it that the outer boot? Only 2 right? try to use first boot
best you can, then make sure the other one is on real good you want no noise and stuff getting in. Do you have 2 rubber boots than the outer one or 2 total?

There are two rubber boots TOTAL...There's the one that fits over the circular part of the shifter base, the other attaches to the metal plate and covers the hole in the floor pan...I'm speaking of the one that was originally around the round part of the stock shifter base and secured with a lock ring...It can just sit inside of the ring on the Pro5.0 shifter base, but doesn't fit around the outside of the ring because the ring on the Pro5.0 has a larger diameter than the stock shifter...

Ya thats what i figured some people have an an after market boot covering it all, just like I said you got to
get it best you can you want it protected, but the other boot make sure that is all good for sure, you do not want the noise and air and dirt and oil and whatever getting
anywhere inside. Unless ther is a boot that fits better
and they are too cheap to include it but they should tell
you if you can get one for more $ at least. If you can not get the ring maybe wrap wire around it?

I finally figured out that the instructions suggest you cut out the center of the outer boot (the one that covers the hole in the floor pan). Once done, it fits snugly around the circular part of the base of the shifter, cutting down noise and protecting the shifter from debris.

The clamp ring doesnt work with aftermarket shifters really, what i did was stretch the shifter boot over top of, and beneath, the adjustable stops of the aftermarket shifter. That way it's held in place pretty snug.
