Problem with brakes

so lately i will b driving and like half of the time when i press the brakes to come to a complete stop a have to push it a lot farther than normal. this just started happening recently. have not noticed any brake fluid leaking from any lines. i'm guessing master cylinder? let me know what you think

Pump the pedal with the engine off....does it get hard as a rock?

Then, with your foot on the pedal, start the engine...does the pedal sink a little bit?

yes it is still hard when the engine is off and it sicks some when it starts

If it were a master cylinder then the pedal would sink slowly.

Sounds like a brake booster from what I can tell by what you are telling me. Check for vacuum leaks. If it's the brake booster replace it or go manual brakes!

Do you mean you push it physically farther to stop....or that you need to push harder to stop?
