Where did you get the 4.10s? If they are supposed to fit into the rear of a Mustang then I'd say go to another place to have them installed.

if it's for the fords 8.8 that mustangs have then they should go in with out any problems....my guess is he overtighten the pinion shaft nut and/or the backlash is too tight to make it not turn

it has to be for the 8.8 ford rear end because i bought them off this dude that actually had them for his mustang, so i dont understand why it wouldnt fit? im so frustrated at this point i havent had my car in like a month n a half. now hes telling me hes just gonna order a new bearing for my car and put in my old gears.... ...i need to get this problem resolved and my 4.10s in there!

this sounds weird to me cause i have installed gears for a while now and never had that happen....either when he was assembling the gears he did not have the proper pinion depth and backlash set for them not to turn

So you are having used parts installed by someone who apparently does not know WTF they are doing? Yeah, good luck with that

"My axle doesnt catch" What does this mean? I have not installed gears in a Ford 8.8 but have done GM 12 bolts and dana 60's. You install the ring and pinion and set all the clearances before the axles are reinstalled. If it is the ring and pinion that will not turn and the pinion turned before the ring gear was added he has to many side shims. If it is the pinion than like others have said he set the preload wrong.

Pics of the "tech" and his "shop" will probably be more helpful than pics of the gears

if there was an issue with the posi it would have shown up before...

If it were me I would get it towed to a reputible shop expensive or not.

I dont know what type of gears you bought but I bought Motive gears and my installer couldnt install them properly. He told me that they were factory made too close together and he could fit any shims in the rear. Ive been living with a constant howling and if I go past 90mph my engine light will come on and I have alot of vibration in the back. I now have to buy some other type of gear and have those installed.

You should be able to use your old posi. But why not check with who you got the gears from as to what axles he was running? It sound like he had bigger/stronger axles.
