problems after t-5 rebuild

t-5 has been in the car for less than a hundred miles. the problem happened before the rebuild. car would jerk and stutter in second gear when cold. didnt do it in anyother gear.

rebuit tranny due to this and many other issues. went all back together well.

today- taking it easy as I have a new second gear and 1-2 slider. put it into second and it starts to stutter real bad. put it into thrid without issues. next light I go into second and it just revs. nothing there are all might as well have been in neutral. stock shifter on it so nothing to adjust. all the other gears work fine. just has no 2nd at all.

anyone have any ideas. put a super rebuild kit in it. maybe the 1-2 fork was weak and broke? but there were no cracks or anything in it before the rebuild and it did it before.

I be something let go on the synchro itself preventing it from engaging 2nd. Time to pull the trans again.

pul the trans and check the ears on the fork check second for broken chiped teeth

definitely have to pull it just have to find the time. wondering why it is doing it this again after the rebuild.

well, took it back out and found that the second gear split in two. I guess it is a two piece design and the outer ring separated from the inner ring. brand new too. It is under warranty but I have to wait for the new second gear to arrive. damn. oh well, as is such with the stang. glad it was nothing major though. just thought I Would let you guys know. I will post pics later of the gear.

2-peice 2nd gear?? WTF? What brand gear is this?

from what I am told they are all two piece and at just welded together but Hanlon is closed so I cant confirm this.


also- I broke the metal clip that holds on the speedometer drive gear onto the main shaft. if anyone has an extra I need one in a hurry as this is my DD.

Hmm, i'll have to take a look at my 2nd gear paperweight when i go to work on monday. It's not my pen-holder on my desk. Interesting conversation peice

nice, I am going to clean this one up and save it for the same reason. Unfotrunately I cant put my trans back together until monday when I can call ford for that piece. if they dont have it I will have to call hanlon and see if they have a spare laying around.
