problems cranking 00 v6 over

recently, maybe 6 months, its become alot more common for me to have problems starting my car. It will crank, sound like it starts , sputter and shake alot and then die... sometime my gauges will freak out and the needles will go all the way to the right on every guage, then after 5 sec. or so they go back to normal.

any ideas? only 60k miles

Sounds like some sort of electrical problem. Make sure your battery clamps and chassis ground wires are tight and free of corrosion. Are there any CEL codes posted?

Was the car ever in a flood? I've heard of similar problems happening in flood cars.

i guess i should have said its CRANKING fine, its just not firing up like it used to? it will sometimes fire and sputter then shutoff, but never just dies once its truely running.

Maybe a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump is going bad. The filter is easy to change- try that and see if it helps. It shouldn't be clogged with only 60k on the car, but you never know.
