I decided on a whim today to drive the stang into work, the long way . Around the bay on the highway to give it a bit of run as I havn't driven it much since the swap was done (weather). So I'm zipping along with the flow of traffic and look down at the temp gauge and it's almost pegged over (still in range but hot) now it didn't boil over and when I pulled off the highway at the next exit the fan was indeed on. However when I tried to pull out again the car's rpm just went up and the transmission wouldn't engage (rebuilt AOD with less the 200 miles on it) Took 3 or 4 try's before the transmission would drop into gear. Needless to say I'm not impressed!

Were it me, I would start with retrieving trouble codes and installing a real temperature gauge.

More info about your car would help (do you really have an AOD or is it an AODE?) etc would help.

Good luck.

Sorry its AODE, we picked the motor & tranny up for the swap out of a wrecked 95 GT. It's heading back into the shop for, brakes, 373's, and sub frames connectors this week. I'll have them pulled then and yes I'd like to see another temp gauge installed myself, the temp issue could just be a crappy gauge. Its the AODE that really pissed me off, not engaging and hanging up after a complete rebuild is not a good sign. Will see how it runs this morning on my way home from work.

Thanks
