so your saying the wristpin is siezed... so something must have caused it to seize.... but even if pieces fell/came off of the wristpin, they wouldnt make thier way to the top of the piston (well they could, but you would have definatly noticed that when you hauled the head off!!!). i think the wristpin was caused by the foreign object, not the other way around.

i guess carbon could have made its way down from the egr (never heard of that before, but it must be possible).

any way you can get some clearer pictures of the whole deal (the underside of the siezed piston where the connecting rod and wristpin meet up).

ok ill try to get some pictures. my girlfriend is comin over tonight so ill tell her to bring her camera with. you should see pictures tomorrow.

guys ihave a question... im completely confused on what to do!!!!
should i even rebuild the engine? or should i buy a DSS 306 or 331... i can take a loan out from my 401K to get the block finished and save for the other parts out of my pocket. how much would it cost to rebuild the engine vs. spending 2 to 2.5k on a DSS block???

What other mods do you have?
I would say,if you didnt have alot of mods, just look to get a rebuilt 306 from a local shop.If you got some good bolt-ons (heads, intake, etc.),then a stroker would make more of a differance.

i just spoke to a mechanic at work and showed him the pics. He was looking at the pic with the head and asked if i had antifreeze in my oil... i forgot to post that detail!!!!

i did have minor antifreeze in my oil!!!!! if you look closely at the head pic you can see rust spots where the gasket blew he told me most head gaskets have a metal ring around the edge of the cylinder to help seal it..

unfortunatly i threw the head gaskets away, is there any other way i can check to see if it was this ring?

Yes,that could be very possable.

Look around the "ring" on the head and look for spots that look differant.

all the rings are there. i am deciding between an already buildt 306 or a 331... i think im going to go the 306 route and use the extra $500 to rebuild my a-trim to an s-trim....

Im not talking about piston rings.

Look at the pic of the head,or better yet, look at the head and see the lighter "ring" around the combustion face.Does any particular spot look odd?
