First off, i recently had my transmission full rebuilt not 2 weeks ago.

Yesterday I was driving down the highway about 70, of course it's in OD, and i hit the gas no even half way and the car, when it hit about 2500 rpm, revved up real high like it was in neutral before it hit its gear. It did this about 7 times.

The thing is, not 10 minutes later, it stopped doing it...

Did the transmission people screw up or is this normal?

:nonono:

Ive seen a post with this problem at least 10 times on here...It still happens to mine once in awhile.

I STILL have yet to see someone come in here and state FOR SURE what causes that and how to fix it.. Thing is most of the good guys around here have 5-speeds, and very few here know much about our AODE's :(

if that's the case just take it back and let them figure it out. don't forget to ask after they're done what it was for future reference. i can't quite remember what the part was called, something like neutral safety switch or something to that effect. i do know that it was about $15-$25 at the local auto store. good luck

Ya but I don't want to take it back randomly if it wasn't something they should have taken care of.

They will probably screw it up more..haha..or put more scratches on my deck-lid. :nonono:

Mine will "act up" like once every 5 months and it's usually on a corner. Which is bad news cause it's usually like a neutral drop and the rear end wants to come around. Kinda hard to explain to the cops too. ;)

Depends on what you paid for the rebuild... but it's not really part of the tranny. It's like saying asking for new O2 Sensors with new exhaust....

I've been told that my problem since it mainly happens on corners could be because of the shift kit and the 1-2 shift being overdrilled. Fluid could be routed a different way causing the problem. Or the plate is flexing...

damn!!.... posted with my bros again insted of Kevin R.... anyway ...

Cost $1589 tax and all for complete rebuild with 1yr unlimited mileage guarantee and fluid change at 12 months included.

The bill shows new parts were.... torque converter, direct drum, overdrive spring low speed bands x 2, torrington bearing kit, thrust washer set, bushing kit, tcc solenoid, epc solenoid, shift solenoids, valve body recalibration kit, steels, gaskets, lip seals, sealing rings, friction plates, filter, 12 qts mercon5, flush lines.

Shop said dont worry about it, they will check it out anytime I bring it in ... codes or something... and just let them know if anything like that happens again.

that seems alot for a tranny. ain't no way i'll pay that much!!!
That's really not a bad price.

The parts from Art Carr for rebuild will run me about $700, and I found a shop that will do the labor for about 450...That's for PERFORMANCE parts, but that does NOT include the TQ Conv or shift kit, which I already have. However the shop I found is family run, and the guy who would do my work owns a 95 stang, and he does work for a lot of cars that run at Moroso race track.

Just keep on them about the work.
