i was wondering if anyone has installed a MAC prochamber themselves. i was thinking about doing this to save a bunch of money, but wanted to know if its too difficult. Any suggestions?
I did mine myself...just make sure you have lots of extensions including a swivel ext. to get your passenger side head flange loose. Also, go to NAPA and get part # 600-1819 for the drivers side flange. Take the studs in the kit and replace the ones in the stock header flange. There is a shoulder on them which prevents you from torque down the flange enough and usually causes and exhaust leak.
Oh and get a couple of friends to help you. ITS A PITA to get it to fit even though its designed to. You have to get the flanges lined up and then match the back part of to the catback without bolting either side down all the way. Anyways plan on a few hours it may take you a while.
Just do it, I did it myself. It's not hard at all. Like kirkyg said in his good advice, extensions and a swivel are must haves. I used a floor jack to hold up the center of the ProChamber so I could focus on the manifold connections. Don't get it too close to the body as it will rattle. If you have the time, spray some WD40 or something similar on the manifold bolts before you try to loosen them. Wait to take your O2 sensors off until the original h-pipe is off the car. Make sure you note and remember where the sensors went. Be prepared to buy some MIL eliminators because the lack of cats may trip the MIL. Be careful with the stock manifold gasket, you can reuse it if you don't destroy it. The other side is a ball and socket joint so there's no gasket. It's not difficult to do.
