procharger + 10 PSI stock bottom end=? is it safe to run that kinda boost on a stock bottomend? A friend is gettin a really good deal on a procharger kit and it comes with a 10psi pulley and he wants to know if it would be safe.

safe? I know someone who is running 13psi on a stock 2v bottom end with a procharger and another who is running 12 psi on a vortech non intercooled. Both are daily drivers too.

It is the kit that comes with the intercooler. and I figured he needed a good tune. He wants to get a mail order tune till he can afford a dyno tune. So I told him to get a mail order tune and we can check the A/F and as long as its good I hope that will hold him till he can get a dyno tune.
To say you need a good tune cannot be repeated enough.
Many people run 6 to 8 psi (centri setups) without complications. If it were mine, I would be a bit more leery about running 10psi on my stock internals. You would probably be "safe" but compromise endurance in the long term scope.

boost doesn't have as much of a negative effect on the internals as hp does. 10psi is fine, but tuned to be safe on the stock shortblock isn't going to make much more than 8psi.
How much power do you guys think he will be making after he gets it tuned. He has full exhuast and its a auto car with a stall converter.

Does anyone know if he could get a mailorder tune from MPH? Im tryin to figure out the best way for him to do it. I told him that if he gets a mailorder tune that we can goto a close dyno and get them to check the a/f and dyno it.

A/F is a very important part of the combo, but not the only thing to watch out for. Timing is very critical as well. I have seen engines let go with 11.5:1 A/F, but were running way too much timing. If money is an issue, wait a couple of months and save for a good tune. It can save spending many thousands more down the road.
When i get my p-1sc with the 2 core intercooler the guy that is gona install and tune it said we will do 7 psi and then when i get used to that he will do 14 psi. He tells me that a S/C car is a completly different car then a N/A. He did a 2002 roush I believe stage 1 and said he got over 400 hp after the p-1sc install and tune. So he said mine should be fine.
