Procharger vs. Vortech

Hey all, this summer I plan on getting my mustang blown and and am thinking about going the centrifugal route. Usually the two I hear most talked about are the Procharger and Vortech. I was wondering the advantages/disadvantages of each, as well as the cheapest place to buy a quality kit. As of right now I am leaning toward the ATI setup because I would prefer an intercooler over an aftercooler. I am unsure if this makes a difference in which kit I should choose, but I currently have a cat-back on the car as well as plan to add a tb/plenum and 3.73 gears before the blower goes on. I greatly apreciate any info anyone can provide.

Ya man i was gona do the same thing this summer. I bet they both rock i just want the one that screams the loudest. Oh ya if anyone can answere this question also i would appreciate it. Can my stock motor handle 10psi with an awsome tune. I was also gona port the heads and get cams with it, maybe some other stuff like pistons and rods, crank, headers. Sound good or bad what you think

don't forget MPH comes with EVERYTHING you need to install unlike a lot of other places that neglect certain details until order time

So anyone know the advantages/disadvantages? One is "oiled by the engine"...one is self-lubricating.

well they are both good S/C's most people will tell you that the procharger is junk due to the fact that they have seal problems or something like that, but thye hardly have any complaints about the vortech......

Well, i dunno if this help or not, but I remember reading an issue of MM&FF...I don't remember how long ago, but they showed that the most efficient centrifugal blower was the Vortech by a long shot. The procharger i think can run higher boost, but pound for pound, the Vortech I think is more efficient.





BTW, both blowers are loud. Get the S-Trim Vortech instead of the SQ (Quiet) and it'll be loud as hell.

your motor can be good to hold up to 400hp with a dead on tune but that is still running your motor on borrowed time other wise stick to a limit of 350-370hp range..........if you want to run 10psi i would aslo consider having an intrcooler...

A lot of people complain about the prochargers having seal problems, so maybe the Vortech would be a better choice. You can buy the modularpowerhouse mongoose kit for around $3800 that comes with everything you'll need, including the tune.

One of the guys around here has a 97 Cobra with a Procharger and has had it rebuilt twice. It also throws belts quite often as well. I would go with the Vortech personally.

it's been debated over and over, but the fact remains, the S trim is a better blower in terms of reliability and potential power over the P1sc. i'm not a Procharger hater, they make some good head units, the P1sc just isn't one of them. i do like the fact that Prochargers come with intercoolers tho. i'm not a fan of the Vortech aftercooler either.
