I just purchased and installed one i found used for my 2000 gt. Aside from the fact that I had to fab a new alternator bracket since the pre 01's had a slightly different bolt pattern, and having to re-tap some of the holes (could had been from previous owner cross threading) it fit decently.
My issue is as was said in previous posts, gutless under 5000. The intake runner design is appears the same just by quick inspection but around 3-5" shorter. I was in need of a new intake due to the common water crossover on the earlier intakes cracking.
My car is basically stock besides the usual bolt ons. Pulley's, long tubes, custom off road x pipe (stock cat back), Professional products upper intake w/ 75mm tb, 3.73's, and an sct dyno tuned. It made decent power at 271@5480 and 299 ft lbs@4020 for the mileage (100,000 bought new in 99) at a still somewhat fat 12:1- 11.8:1 a/f. This was with the factory intake. After the intake swap I took one test drive and parked it in disappointment. It did squat under 5000 and even then the torque lost was so shocking that I am in the market for cams or a stock 01+ intake lol. I will dyno it again to see if playing with the timing will help and to see exactly what was lost/gained. The only time it actually feels "so-so" is from the short 5500-6200 range, which at that point it's fighting the factory cams. Just seems pretty useless for a daily driven street car in my opinion.
Perhaps with cams it might perk up but I seriously doubt enough to compensate without the aid of forced induction. Just my thoughts and any feedback would be welcome.
