Programmers vs. Chips

Whats up bro your lucky i found this thread you made because no one would have answered your question. I had a thread like this 2 weeks ago. Go with a tweecer or a pms from Anderson Ford Motorsports.

These two run of your stock tune so you don't have to worry about running lean and blowing your motor. It is pretty simple to use either of them.

The Tweecer you will need a lab top to plug into your computer and uses a excel chart to do your tune. You will have to learn how to read the charts. It seems kind of hard but if you go to tweecers site they have forums and you can talk to other people about tuning your car. You can also download someones tune on to your lab top and upload it to your computer in the car.

The A.F.M. PMS you do not need a lab top they give you a little thing that looks like a gameboy advances and you just tune it yourself. They said it very easy to figure out. I wish i can tell you more about this thing but i just finished learning about the Tweecer. I'm going to go read up about the PMS.

You are looking to spend about $1000 dollars on one of them. But look at it this way you don't have to spend $500 dollars everytime you need a tune.

the generic tuners like Superchips and Predator can do what you want with the exception of tuning for nitrous. the more expensive, full control tuner software like SCT pro racers package and EFI sofware can do anything you could ever want it to do.

Well you would need this other thing that is 500 dollars if you want to get really serious. It is a o2 senser and it reads your a/f and helps you big time to get a serious tune.

I'm not going to say everything but i'm assuming you can. Don't quote me on it. I'm saving up some money to buy one. I think i'm going to go with the tweecer simply because someone on the tweecer forum has the same crap as me and i can ask them for the tune to download.

I mean its something pretty kool to look into you know.

Just a little clarification on the tweecer. I don't much about the other one, but to call the tweecer pretty simple to use is a bit of an understatement. If you want simple get a hypertech. It does take some time to learn, but there is a lot of useful information out there.

Tweecer doesn't use excel charts to do the tune. If you get the RT version (which I highly recomend) you can datalog many of the sensors while the engine is running, then you can export the log file to excel and create charts. This is very usefull when changing the a/f ratio at wot. The actual tuning is done by changing values in table scalars and function, but it's not as simple as dragging a few points on a line graph.

I spent about $500 for the tweecer rt, $330 for a PLX wideband, and another $25 for a dataq which allows the tweecer to log the a/f ratio, so about $850 total.

Jstreet yea your right about the excel thing. My friend that was explaining all this to me was trying to explain it in a way where i know what the hell he was talking about. If you would have told me that and i never heard about tweecer i would have been like,"what the hell is he talking about?"

Is the tweecer worth the money and does it do what it claims?

I think it worth it. It does what it is supposed to do. The design of the software could be better, and there is no explaination what each parameter does in the software, so it is up to you to research before you change anything. Most people try to compare it to the SCT stuff, but the fact that you can datalog and get a wideband for the price you'd pay for the SCT basic package, makes the tweecer a much better deal for me.
