Programming PATS key with only 1 master key?

'01 mustang gt, it only came with one key. I bought two off of ebay, but the paper work it came with to show how to program it says I need two keys to program the spares. Is there a way around going to the dealer, or am I going to have to eat it in this case?

If you only have 1 key...gotta go to the dealer.


Sucks i know, but it's for security reasons. Otherwise anyone could make a copy of your key if they have access to it (repair shop, body shop, mechanic, quick lube change place, etc)

I've been meaning to make a 3rd Key while i have my two originals...just in case. I'll try to pick one up off Ebay

Look at your local key makers in town. I got a spare key programmed and everything for $50, the dealer wanted to charge me over $100.

i got a new key to replace the 1 i had and got it programmed for $30 by an off duty locksmith
