So while my wallet recovers from my new kitchen appliances and floor, I figured I’d work on some parts I had stored away.
Decided to get these calipers painted.

Once they dry for a while I have new pistons and seals that will be going in.

I got my bottle of C25 today. So at some point that it’s not 100* in the garage, I’ll start practicing on a bunch of scrap metal I’ve been collecting!

Ok, so I just had to try this thing out. It got down to a cool 90* in the garage with the doors open, so I went for it. I’ll embarrass myself a bit, but here are pics of my first welds. This on 14 gauge steel.

Forgot to turn on the bottle

Here’s the front of attempt 1 and 2 with gas. 3 is the backside of third attempt.

Here’s the front side of 3, and backsides of first two. I guess 3 is best yet.

Welders out there, let me know if I have some potential, or if I should pack it in. Lol

For sure. I’m just glad I’m not blowing through everything. I feel like I’ll get the hang of it pretty quick! Should have bought one years ago!!

Here’s my attempt at an outside 90*

Inside corner is first. Weld was done from outside corner. (2nd pic)

When I tried to bend it by hand, the steel was bending before the corner, so I guess I’m getting somewhere!

I won’t bore you with all my other attempts, but this was my last pass on 14 gauge, and from the looks of the back, I think it might be ok. Am I on the right track?

Got out to a show today at a Ford dealership. Put about 50 miles on it. Ran real good. Although, these 2.73 gears have got to go!!!!!

Saw a few foxes with the Scott Rod front shroud (in front of radiator) sheet metal. I’ve been thinking about this for a bit, and now I’m convinced it’s definitely a nice touch!

Today I went back to some painting on my spindles and got my caliper decals in the mail so I got those applied.
Spent some time grinding the two spots on those spindles to clearance the PBR’s. It didn’t take much at all!!

Those came out really nice. What paint did you use? I will be doing the same

I went the budget route on these myself, and used Rustoleum. The red is “sunrise red” I believe, brush on. The black is high temp engine enamel that I had on my shelf.
I read on a corvette forum where someone used the sunrise red regular Rustoleum, and has had good luck for four years so far. I already had that same paint, so I figured I’d give it a try!
Decals were from eBay. Seller was decals4calipers.

This was a day or two ago. Ever since I peeled off the ratty hood insulation, it revealed several colors. Maybe an attempt at that cobra purple/green flop color? But anyway, it always bothered me. I decided to try a quick fix with the spray can, and I managed to get it all black. It looks better, but I really need to take the hood off, and do the underside right! Anyway, here’s what I got:

Yeah, it’s been hot, hot, hot here too.

I’ve been painting in 110-113 temps in the booth in the afternoons. Tough to not sweat on the vehicles!

We had a cool front go through last night and we will be in the eighties for highs for most of this week.

What’s your weather look like coming up? Any changes?

Sounds like the pump has come loose from the bracket or the bracket is broken
Don't hear it after it starts.

I guess if I’m dropping the tank to figure it out, I may as well replace it! Seems to run fine, so you may be right....... does sound like vibration.
