As you may or may not know, I bought Jesse's(yellow1995cobra) 418W stroker short block a couple months ago. I finally got around to working on it yesterday. We took it down to a bare block and checked all the bearings, clearances, cleaned up the pistons, etc. Well, all the bearings are shot, cam bearings included, and a chip broke off one of the piston rings when we removed it. The block is fine, it's just filled with RTV and assembly lube.

So at this point I've got to take the block to a machine shop to be cleaned and have new cam bearings installed. I also need all new main and rod bearings, and piston rings. If anybody has any suggestions where to get these parts let me know. Im using these Probe pistons, Clicky, and Scat H-beams.

Im still waiting on the heads from Jesse, and Im gonna order the cam, intake, etc. after Christmas. So Im hoping to have the new engine ready to drop into the car by mid-Feb/early March.

Here's a couple pics, cuz I know you all love pics:D

Did he have problems with the bearings? I never heard the full story. Did he overheat the engine or what happened?

Long story short, timing chain failed, pistons hit valves, cam had flat spots, bent pushrods and so on.

As far as the heads go, they are still sitting in my cellar  Ive been way to lazy lately, but i did call ed yesterday in hopes of bringing them to him, but no answer. Ive got them boxed up though, to be sent to him sometime this week.

All the parts look great, and i hope you enjoy all the power once its together!

Thats what you said a month ago:D. I can live with that tho because I've been known to do the same thing from time to time. Just let me know when you're ready to ship them to me and I'll have a check ready.

As for building it to make more power, my goal is to keep the car as streetable as possible. I may sacrifice some power doing this, but I think the car will be funner this way, since Im not building a pure drag car. But a friend of mine is putting a 427W in his 95 stang this winter, so I've got to beat him :chair:.

Here's a pic of the carnage from last night. Cleaning up the engine bay should keep me busy until I get the rest of the engine parts.

Looks like it's coming along nicely. One thing I would suggest, if you haven't already is to throw a sheet or something over all those parts you have laying on the piece of plywood. It does look like you have a clean area that you are working in and that is a :nice:.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
