Project "Face Off": 1980 Mercury Capri aero to four eye Progress Thread!

Whooo hooooo!!! It's alive!!!

Your tires do look completely different with the Capri front end back on. I had to go back and forth between pics to convince myself you didn't change tires!

Is it the tires, the wheels, or both? I dunno but I see what you mean

The wheels are 16". The tires are Crown Vic tires. I got away with them with the Aero nose and Saleen air dam but now? They gotta go.

Yeah, yeah ... and just watch, once you ditch those, then your speedometer won't read right anymore and you'll need to get a different speedo gear, and then when that reads right you'll notice again how bad the mileage is that you've been getting, so you'll need to get some new O2 sensors (actually, you need them now, but ... well, anyway...), and so on and so on ... it's a never ending cycle. :D

I had planned on getting O2 sensors payday, yous! :fuss:

I know, I know ... just saying, it's a never-ending deal with these cars. There's no such thing as a "finished" Fox. :p

I flashed on that show that had two kids sitting on the couch, each with their own laptop IM'ing each other :nonono:

Lynn when you change that nose it will more than likely NOT want to line up height wise. It wants to sit low. Like so low that the next time it rains in Arizona (2010) it will create a waterfall.

Beat the crap out of it!!! NO MERCY!!! MAKE IT YOUR *&^%$!!! :chair:

K?

:)

YOU!!! :fuss:

Hi, ummmm, yes... :)

How do we get the nose to sit higher? It made Us it's bitch...

I wouldn't bother with a hood scoop, personally. Looks pretty clean without it. The Capri scoops look sort of tacked-on like an afterthought. Plus you should know from your '04 that those stuck-on hood scoops like to hold onto water after you wash your car, so even after you dry off the car there's some water left in there that'll make a nice drool mark down your hood when you take off and then the sun will burn that friggin' water mark into place. Arizona summer sunlight and hard-ass AJ water make it damn near impossible to keep water spots off cars, as it is. :fuss:

Just need to fix that dent and smooth out the minor surface flaws, and it'll look groovy with the hood look it already has right now. :nice:

The RS style rocks, the onw that covers the vents or some call it the reverse facing one..... and as for water well I always open the hood to let the water drain and to dry the inside around the fenders and front lights so.... its a push i guess!

In the process right now of sanding and painting the Capri cowl grille and bottom-of-the-windshield trim pieces. The Aero cowl grille is like 2" or so wider than the four-eyed grille, so right now it looks kinda funky because it doesn't match the hood. Junkyard dude didn't charge me diddly for 'em, and while I was there I got a pair of those corner interior trim pieces that go behind the mirror (for teh Notch) for $5.
