Project "Face Off": 1980 Mercury Capri aero to four eye Progress Thread!

I have all of the cars washed up and photo-worthy. If we can spare an hour or so tomorrow, I wanna run 'em up the road and snap some pics, starting with the Capri ... although I'd prefer to have the rear quarter-panel trim pieces on there before then. Hopefully that '84 SVO in the junkyard still has 'em so we can grab those, first...

Y'all should have seen my Ex (the one that converted the car) yesterday when he came to pick up my son. He was walking around the car, examining it. He just looked at me, smiled, shook his head and walked to his truck. I could care less. It's what it should be now. :D

Found this on Craigslist...the wing works but its kinda big considering the rest of the car has no sort of ground effects or even a front air dam. But I think that with an RS air dam, this wing would be a good compliment...

1982 Mercury Capri

Not wild about the GT wing, myself, but I like the way it looks with turbines on it. And considering that I have a set of those in my spare room ... hmmmm... *nudges Frankenstang* ;)

That 82 looks good, but that wing.... Also it looks like that engine isnt stock either. Did anyone notice the altenator is on the drivers side? Maybe its me, anyway dont let the hoiday weekend spoil your project. I will be combing the boneyards this weekend looking for 1/2 priced goodies! LOL Maybe over priced hafl priced goodies! LOL late

Maybe because most of the '82 V8 models came with a 4.2L and not a 5.0L, and the dude selling the car is mistaken when he thinks it's a 5.0L?

Either way ... meh on the GT spoiler. Not terrible, but doesn't look any better than the Saleen wing, either. An LX wing, Steeda wing (basically an elongated LX wing), or a 3-piece spoiler are about the only way to go, IMO.
