So here is the starting point for my new project. It's an 89 LX. Never been wrecked, no rust, and straight as an arrow. I'm putting this car together for my wife. It was destined by the last owner to become a straight track vehicle but through lack of interest and having to move across the sea, I got the whole kitten-caboodle for a smooth $4k.
Some pics of the body. Everything I've looked at looks great! Near project's end, I'll put a two tone Pearl White with some other metallic color below the body strips. Other costmetics will include some diamond headlights, a legal tint, and the stock hood (the fiberglass hood is headed for the landfill).
Here you can see the MM K-Member and manual rack. It's coming out and going going into my 4 eye. I'll probably put another aftermarket K in here but it's definitely getting its power steering back.
The rest of these pics are just SOME (maybe half) of the other parts that came with the deal. Pretty much every bolt, gasket, plumbing, and retainer that belongs with this car is in one of the large (4 of them) plastic storage containers that I got with the car. There are several pullies for the Vortech and all the plumbing to run it with or without the intercooler.
List of parts pictured above:
OEM E7 Heads
Edlebrock Performer RPM Heads (set)
MAC Long Tube Headers
New set of Crane intake and exhaust valves
Valve Springs, Seats, Shimms, Retainers, etc.
1.6 Scorpion Rolller Rockers
Aluminum Valve Covers
Dash Mount and Tach with shift light / Vac-Boost / Oil Press Gauges
Rocker Girdle
Main Stud Girdle
Lifter Valley Girdle (I know, kinda pointless)
Timing chain set (never hurts to have a spare)
Anderson FMS B-21 Cam
4:10 Gears
Vortech V1 S-Trim (Yeah... she's gonna wail like a banshee)
Vortech Intercooler
8, 10, and 12 lb SC Pullies
Procomp Timing Belt
Stock Intake
Edlebrock Intake
UPR Upper control arms with spherical bushings
DOT Slicks
Fully welded aluminum radiator
Some items not pictured:
Full MAC exhaust with X-pipe (still in wrapper)
FMS Aluminum Driveshaft (yeah there's two. One in the car and one in the box)
Driveshaft Loop
2x Summit Racing seats with floor brackets (gonna get rid of these)
Edlebrock Upper Intake (haven't looked at it to see which one it is yet)
Anderson PMS
Lakewood Lower Control Arms (two sets, one installed in roller)
MM K-Member
MM A-Arms
MM Coil Over (front)
MM Caster/Camber Plates
MM 8 Point Roll Cage
OEM Hood
Couple of water pumps, alternator, etc.
Copper Head Gasket Set (for the Brocks)
Set of 19# injectors and 42# injectors
C&L Mass Air Meter (Cal'd for 42s)
Strange Axles 33 spline
Strange Spool
4:10s
Pretty much every nut and bolt seems to be here. I'm sure there will be some misc. item missing here and there. Every piece of hardware I've looked at so far (the stuff that really matters) has been replaced with ARP. There's at least 3 sets of gaskets floating around in various containers.
The plan for this car is Streetability and Reliability. Since it's going together for my wife, it'll get the full interior treatment to make a quiet and confortable car. The interior is the Porno Red and I'm thinking about finding some late model electric seats to put in there. It's also going to get a layer of heat/sound deadening and I'll likely return the A/C to the car.
The rotating assembly is Cast Crank, Forged Rods, Hyper Pistons, and an Anderson B-2 (?) cam. Total displacement is 347 (give or take).
Should be a nice sleeper. I'm planning for roughly 400HP to the wheels. He was putting out about another 100 hp more but I'm looking for no muss, no fuss streetabilty when it's done.
Oh... for rims I was thinking a set of 17 inch 93 Cobra Replicas (unless I find something I like more for about the same money later). Keep in mind this will be a GIRL car and I like the sort of 'understated' look of the Cobra Wheels.
I'm sure there's other stuff that I've forgotten to list. Many of the listed parts are going onto my 4 eye (roll cage, K, coil over, rear end, blah blah blah). Bascially all the hard core performace items will migrate over to the 4 eye since 'ride comfort' is about the last thing I care about. lol
This car should be comfrotable, quiet, and suprise most folks on the road. hehe
Not a bad score.
Feedback is certainly welcomed since almost nothing for this project is finalized yet.
