hey all,
i'm about to start my upgrade project and wanted to post something up and see what you all thought. i've got a 94 mustang gt with some slight mods and am about to put a gt40 upper and lower intake manifold, gt40 heads, throttle body, maf, and larger fuel injectors. also i was wondering with this upgrade if i would need to get new head bolts. i have a list of my current upgrades in my garage. i'm hoping to get a very nice increase. i'm gonna be replacing the gaskets as well. thank god for dating a girl who has an uncle that is a mechanic and can get some good parts for a great price. i'm open to comments and suggestions so please feel free to express them. thank you all

The name of the project already reflects your pessimism. I wouldn't assume a head swap is going to be a nightmare before you even start. The stock head bolts are torque to yield bolts, and have to be replaced every time they are retorqued. You could get another set of stock bolts, but the prefered method is to get a set of ARP head studs or head bolts. I prefer studs, because they give you a more accurate torque setting.

well the nightmare part isn't a reference to how i think the project will go or be but the nickname of the car rather. it is already a nightmare to all the ricers that have tried to test it and i expect this project to only make it worse for them. i actually love working on cars and driving them. it's one of the few things that actually relax me now a days. thank you for the advice on the bolts. that was what i was thinking but just wanted to make sure.

Oh, I used to belong to a group in Daytona called Nightmare racing. It wasn't because we thought we were a nightmare to the competition, but simply because every project we started turned into an F'n nightmare.
