The thing about projectors- even well designed projectors- is that they have a sharp cutoff above the beam. That makes it critical that they are adjusted correctly. They need to be high enough to put light down the road, but not so high that they blind oncoming drivers.

You also have to make sure that they are DOT listed. Some of the aftermarket lights available online are intended for off road use only. That means they've just been designed to look cool- not to light the road safely without blinding other drivers.

I have DOT projectors with HID bulbs and I'm pleased with them. They put out more light close in, but the cutoff takes some getting used to. I am sure that I would have a better chance at seeing something like debris or a deer in the road with my old lights than with the new ones assuming i'm using the low beams. Closer in however, they light the road much better!

I had projectors on my '97 and installed the Osram Night Breakers to get proper vision and not go HID. I also got matching 5000k LED Switchback turnsignal bulbs to match. Looked great.
They now have a brighter CCFL, so make sure you get the most current version. Check out the LED Switchbacks too.
