Has anyone heard of or used Promotion transmissions? More specifically their built up TR-3650? They claim it is good for 750 HP. I've already sifted through several Mustang forums and have seen both good and bad reviews on these but nothing more recent than 2008 or so. I spoke on the phone with Walt who I believe is the owner...Nice guy and very informative but he got a little snippy with me when I asked him if any of his parts are remanufactured. Apparently he re-uses some components from old transmissions when he custom builds his units and when he told me that I got a little iffy. Without a core return he charges about $2000 for his built up TR-3650. A brand new TKO 500/600 is $2400 but if I go that route I will end up spending a lot more between the bellhousing and additional mod work to get it to fit. If anyone is curious I have a Procharged 99 GT which this will be going in.

If anyone has any feedback on Promotion located in Fort Lauderdale, FL or if you have first hand experience with their transmissions please post up and let me know what you think. Much appreciated, thanks in advance.

What all is done to it in order to hold that much power? The 3650 is a good trans for a stock car but would take considerable changes in order to essentially double its power rating.

For example, a hardened gear set, 26 spine hardened input shaft, etc etc. The price seems about right for a built trans w/o core.

We used the t45 source for a built trans and it's amazing (they do 3650 work too). I can't speak on personal experience on promotion but have heard their name for years.

I'm glad you posted this. I actually called them up to see what's what with Pro Motion. Even looked at their youtube videos. I spoke with Walt who seems to know what he's talking about. Knows more than me for sure. I too was contemplating the TKO route until I spoke with him.

After all the supporting parts, the TKO would cost me around 3600 to do myself. That's based on the TKO 600 which would require me to switch friction plates to a 26 spline. If I get the 700-750 ft.lb 3650 from Pro Motion Powertrain, I still have to change friction plates but the total cost is likely to be around 2400 for everything before I turn my core back in. That's less than the TKO unit without the mods needed to make it work. At the moment, my opinion is swinging in favor of Pro Motion. Have not talked to the T45 source yet though.
