Protecting hidden areas

I'm sure someone has run across this and possibly found a solution... how do you strip/clean/paint in hidden areas like in the seat supports, inside the smaller part of the shock tower, and to a lesser extent inside the rear quarters (I can get to them, it's just a pain)? so far all i've come up with is maybe shaking a chain around in there to get the loose junk off then dumping in some paint and hoping for the best... havent done either yet though... any ideas?

Isn't there liquid or gel paint stripper? As far as painting, I guess your idea of pouring paint into the hard to get places might work, messy, but may work. I did that for the inside of the radiator support.

Oops forgot, brake fluid does a great job on removing paint .

you could try "Jasco" whihc is a rust preventative also can be used as a pre primer if sanded leaves zinc phosphate behind

found at Lowes Homedepot in paint area sometimes in cleaners

I would suggest that chemicals are a good way to start, but something like a Dremel or Rotozip would be ideal to finish up with. It depends on how good a job you want to do. I would think that once everything was loosened up, a dremel could finish the worst nooks and crannies fairly quickly.

why?

are you talking about the paint in nook and crannies, or hidden areas?

for nooks and crannies i would use stripper and a wire brush.

for hidden areas like seat platforms and such where it is truly hidden i ask why you would mess with it. Or you could cut the platforms out, paint and reweld them to the car.

Unless you are trying to get the body completely stripped then I would suggest chemical dipping or media blasting.

in my seat platforms especially just by reaching finger through the bottom holes I can feel it's rusty but it's still solid enough that it wont need replacing, I suppose to really do I right I will end up taking them out.. if nothing else but for piece of mind, my hesitation there is that my last spot-weld cutting expierience wasnt so good (cowl removal) things on the seat and floorboard will be alot more straight-forward though, can anyone recommend a type of and place to get spot weld cutters? my last set was completly trashed halfway through the cowl job. both seat pedestals looks to be around 60 welds and I know for sure I will need to cut off my frame rails too (for dent repair)

Eastwood is one place to get spot weld cutters.

you could also just cut the tops off of them and then reweld when you are done painting.
