This has probably been covered before, but I was advised by some 5.0 guys at the latest mustang event I went to put in some billet aluminum pullies(sp) in my 2.3. I saw some underdrive(?) pullies for the 5.0 that claimed 8-10 HP gain. I would doubt we would see power gains like that but does anyone know any good pullies or pully set-ups? Would this effort/endevor be worth it?

It is well known in this forum that pulleys have no effect on this engine. But just for laughs and giggles check out Racer Walsh for them, then decide if you want to shell out for something that may net you a performance gain you can't even feel.

I supposed underdrives might be worth the money on a high-horsepower turbo car, but I would gather that even then they would only be worth a few ponies.

I never really understood why underdrives are worth so much power on a 5.0. In contrast they are worth little to no power on the '96-04 4.6's, and yet on the '05's they pick up around 10 hp. Kinda weird.

Anyway, yeah they really aren't worth the money, especially considering that you get 2 pulleys for $100 whereas a 3 pulley set for the 5.0 is less than that. Plus, the pulleys aren't even a matched set, they don't look that cool (for being aluminum), you don't get a water pump pulley, and the crank pulley doesn't even have a damn timing mark on it (guess how I know)

Thanks for the replies. Just checking to see if they're worth it. I guess not. Well, maybe it's because the pullies were good quality to begin with?
