Hi, I dont really want to spend a lot of time on this forum. So here is my question. I'am buying a 5.0 out of a 95 van. So, I need to know what needs to come out so that motor can run. This motor is going in my 81 CJ7. This is why I am here asking for yall's opinion. I want my CJ to have fuel injection. The 302 is a good motor and I will keep it stock. My second question is, since the van is automatic is that going to screw with the setup. Because the 302 is going to be infront of a bogwarner t18. Any good advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Ryer

Well, if its not going in a mustang, then we don't want you to spend alot of time on this forum... :rlaugh:
Anyway, you'll need the engine, engine harness, computer, and computer harness. Regarding the manual vs. auto trans, you'll be fine with the computer you get from the van.

Well good, I dont like you and you dont like me. We are almost married now. :nice:
So what you are saying is I just need those 4 things. There is nothing special that would keep the motor from running. Cause this old man im buying it from will be a pain if I have to come back and grab something else that was needed. He wanted me to buy the whole dumb van and I talked him out of it. If yall dont mind me asking; what is the difference between the motors? Is the motor in the van built more for pulling then racing? Thanks Ryer

Just get as many parts as you can, better to throw away later than to come back I guess. BTW I like V8 powered Jeeps, what are the other plans for this beast?

Mustang 302 vs. truck/van 302

The 302 in the '95 van will have the truck upper intake and throttlebody, bank-fire vs. sequential fire injectors, exhaust manifolds vs. headers, hydraulic lifters vs. hydraulic roller, different cam profile.

I don't know if I've forgotten anything.

You would be better off buying the entire van because you will need all the vac*** fittings, lines and fittings and a ton of little bits. Could nickle and dime you to death.

What you really should consider is convertign the injection system to run on the Mustang style EFI setup. You can learn just about everything you need ot know about it at http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/

It's a Bronco site so it's geared toward the 4x4 world and they may be the best place to learn everything you need to know.

Van engines are built to be workers. They are not high performance (ie big hp) engines. They have low rpm torque cams. Which will likely be a good match for your CJ. Good luck.

Who said I didn't like you?

Bank Fire?

Is there a chance that this motor isnt mpfi? Well that sucks. If that is the case im proably not going to buy the motor from the old man. I havent even seen the motor yet. He wanted 800 bucks for the motor and 1500 for the whole van. But i talked him down to 250 bucks for the motor and everything it needs to run. I told him the van would make a great dog house, so he shouldnt give it away like that. Now I'm kinda pissed because I almost bought a 89 thunderbird with a 302 in it. Then the dumb girl back out of it because its her "baby". I should have lied to her and told her I was going to restore it.

I own a 81 CJ7. Picked it up for 400 bucks. Bought it from a guy's wife she didnt know better. I'am planning putting a 302 in it. With a old school t-18. Found the tranny in a scrap yard. I bought it for 32 dallors. It has a first gear of 6.32 to 1. I put in a 4 to 1 in my dana 300 transfer case. I havent decided which axles I want to run. Proably dana 60 front and rear. Either way its going on 38 inch tires. Im going to rock crawling events with it. Im tring to get a 100 to 1 crawl ratio. So I need to run 4.10s in my axles. I havent decided how im going to setup my suspension yet. But I have a lot of time so I'm in no hurry. Suspension is proably were im going to have to spend the money.
