I just picked up a used set of steeda pullies and was wonder if you really need to use an impact on the install? Can the install be done without one?

Easiest to use an impact to get the crank bolt out - either that or a breaker bar with alot of leverage (try a piece of pipe over the handle)

I did mine without the impact since my impact won't fit. I just used a breaker bar and some Popeye muscle.

I like the breaker bar technique, less stress on the bolt (that goes in your crank...). But I also have a jack handle that I put over my breaker bar to make it about 4 ft long

In one MM&FF mag I saw they had trouble getting the crank bolt out of a cobra (03 I think, to put an overdrive pully on it), so they got the car up on the lift and used like a 6 foot piece of square tubing on the breaker bar...

Don't be surprised if the puller you rent doesn't work out of the box. The bolt wasn't long enough so I ended up having to modify a socket to fit inside of it to press up against it. I wasn't so thrilled. I'm just glad I don't have to take them off again ..

i rented the puller from AUTOZONE, and had zero issues with the install.
