push the clutch in and the idle drops???

yeah like the title says, its so weird. when i come up to a light my idle wil hang and then drop but if i hold the clutch to the floor itll drop even more but if i let off the clutch while stopped itll come up a few hundred rpm again.. anyone have any idea how this could happen? i have an 86Gt with an entire trickflow setup, stage 1 cam.

thats weird.
i would think it would be the opposite.


whenever me and my buddies used to have beater cars without any power, that were stickshift.
when we started them, if we had the clutch disengaged-- they would tach say 1000 rpm, if we let it out (engaged it) in nuetral, just the engine having to turn an input shaft, would load it enough to drop as much as 300 rpm!

funny as hell, they were weak as hell, and you could totally hear it from the outside

yea normally you unload the engine when you disengage the clutch. BUT if you have a bad throwout bearing, or a bad crankshaft thrust bearing inside the engine, the friction of holding the clutch disengaged will slow things up.

the engine has less than 5k miles on it. when i hold the clutch in it doesnt drop right away it takes a second or 2. it drops like the idle does when it hangs at a stoplight.

The idle will drop if your in neutral and go below 7mph, if that helps any. Are you in gear when you push in the clutch?

nope, not in gear. but check this out! when i start my car in the morn it kind of surges and stuff and if i hold the clutch in it almost makes the surging stop or lessen. does that make any sense? i showed my dad and he has no idea what could be causing it.
