It's been a while since I've been on here, but I am finally making some progress on the motor build. It is a 306 with forged speed pro flat top pistons(4 valve reliefs), and the rods, crank, etc. are all stock. Just got my gt40p heads back from the machine shop with fresh valve seals and valve job. Now for the questions:
1-what valve springs should I run with a b cam?

2-What is the stock length of the ford 302 pushrods? I need to know the factory length so I get the right checker tool to measure for the new pushrods...

3-when I do the final assembly on the heads, will I have to retorque them after the initial engine warm up?

Give trick flow a call to ensure, but I believe the TFS-2500100 would work while giving you some room for cam upgrade. If I remember right, stock PRs are at 6.25, but TF can validate that when you call. They seem to have decent product for the price.

With regard to TFS just went through this: There pushrod checker is NOT .050" per turn like Comp Cams which is .050" per turn. The TFS pushrod length checker is actually around 0.034" in reality per turn. I called TFS and they stated that their pushrod length checkers are for overall length which is stupid because once you have the overall length you still need a specialty tool to measure the pushrod checker. Whereas, the Comp Cams pushrod length checker you just add .050" to each turn of the base length dimension so much easier. Summit was also not aware of this. This little unknown mistake caused me to get too long of a pushrod the first time. Summit told me each turn was 0.050" which is true for the Comp Cams pushrod checker but sent the TFS pushrod checker since I didn't care which brand I got since they are both major brands. Unfortunately, no uniformity and ease to the consumer. So people might want to specify the Comp pushrod length checker until TFS gets it act together and makes a difficult situation easier like Comp Cams already does.

Yeah, I'm glad I got the comp cam checker! I also called several people I know about the valve springs, and it basically came down to two sets with the gt40p heads:
-TFS valve spring upgrade kit, and
-Crane cams 44308-1 beehive spring and retainer kit

I went with the crane kit because it had the beehive springs and I would not have to machine the heads to accept the springs. I am also going with the crane cams energizer 1.7 roller rockers 44746-16, so it would be a matched set...
