I installed windsor jr heads on my 68 302, checked pushrod length and the wear pattern says they are too short (off center towards intake side) again! Checked stock length first, too short, then tried another set at 6.905 length and still to short. Next step is a length checking pushrod. Anyone else have this much trouble?

edelbrock cam
crane roller rockers

you dont happen to have this p/n 11746-16 do you? if so those are just generic 1.6 rockers to fit anything but have the geometry for a chevy. i know this because i bought them, and look em up for a chevy and you get the same p/n. the distance from tip to fulcrum centers is shorter on chevy than on a ford, and being so they will never quite hit the center of the stem tip.

I do understand how to determine pushrod length thats not my problem, my gripe is that it looks to me that I would need a pushrod by at least .250 longer than stock to get where I want to be, that seems like a lot. What about those who bolted these on without checking?
I called cranes tech line today an they say they are not aware of any issues with these rocker and the small block chevy and ford rockers are interchangable. They also said the windsor jr heads are most likely the source of my problems????
I'm going to match one up to a frpp or comp cams rocker and see what I find.

I'ved solved my pushrod problem. Went to mustangs plus and purchased some ford racing roller rockers took them home and matched them up to the crane energizer rocker and there was a difference of about 3/32" in length from the pivot point to the roller tip, the ford rocker being longer. Installed it on the engine and now the contact pattern on the valve stem is perfectly centered. This is with the ford racing pushrods. I guess I'll call crane again and ask them to explain this since I understand they supply ford with these rockers

yeah, but I've got a lot of time and money tied up in this engine and I don't want to have it in the back of my mind that I could have done a better job of assembly. Maybe when I was younger I would have let it go as close enough but not now.
