the title says it...and its not good. Alittle backround on the car, it has been having a valve tap now for quite some time. Figured it was just normal wear on an old motor with 130k on it. well yesterday it started to get real loud and sounded like a rod knock/bottom end knock. i couldnt really tell cause it was so damn loud. i limped it home from about 2 miles away, which may not have been good but hey im 150 miles from home at school with no one to help me. Now on to today....this morning i started the car to see if i could more closly listen and distinguish the problem. well it ran for about 10 seconds and i here this loud cracking followed by some metal banging around. I opened the hood to see a whole the size of a baseball in my passenger side valve cover with the rocker broken off inside and the pushrod laying on the ground. From what i can see....the noise i have been hereing is the rocker losening up and it finally just backed out and when that happened the cam through the pushrod through the valve cover. Im not sure if this has happened before but its not cool. It is the intake valve so i umplugged the injector so it wount load the intake with fuel and am now going to drive it 150 miles to NJ where my home is.....this is a huge gamble but i have a fresh 306 with afr's and a cobra intake sitting at home waiting to go in. So this kind of just accelerated my motor swap plans. everyone wish me luck on my drive, hopefully i wount have a total melt down and what do you guys think happened to this motor? has it happened to anyone else?
