It made 560 @ 4psi.
605 @ 4 psi and 8 degrees more timing.
700+ at 10psi.
865 @ 14psi. The IC pipe blew off right at that point. I was targeting 15psi. The pipe came off at 6000rpm so with another pound of boost and 700 more rpms I think that 900 should be expected.

Next time on the dyno I am going for 1000rwhp. I didn't get a sheet so I don't have a lot of details on the run the torque was over 800.

Why is it that turbos make or can make A LOT more than superchargers. Is it just easier with a turbo or what? Isn't 14'lbs of boost 14 lbs of boost no matter whats pushing it?

I am always amazed at what numbers guys get out of turbos....Great Job.
 
DAMN BOY!!! WTG!!! I was impressed with the 1/4 times from what was it... 4psi???? I can't imagine what it will run now. You and turbodan are freaking SMOKING with your turbo setups.

i have often wondered the same thing...i know there is some loss because the supercharger is belt driven, but i still dont get it.

They make more power because they are more efficient. They use wasted exhaust gas to spin the turbine, unlike a blower which is belt driven. To spin a blower fast enough to move enough air to fill a 302, let alone a stout 347 like Jays takes a LOT of power. Turbo's are also throttle dependent, not RPM dependent like a centrifical blower. This means that turbo's can and will make full boost at a lower rpm than a blower which is entirely dependent on RPMs to spin it faster and move more air. Also, most turbo's are intercooled, and the colder the incoming pressurized air, the more dense it is and therefore the more power that can be made.


As for boost is boost... that couldn't be farther from the truth. Boost does NOT equal airlfow. Its related somewhat, but don't get caught up thinking that the two are completely dependent on each other. Boost is nothing more than a measurement of the backpressure in the intake tract after the compressor, whether it be a turbo or a blower. The colder this air is, the more dense and therefore the more oxygen it will contain... this is a benefit of intercooling. The more efficient the turbo/blower is at pushing air in its given rpm range, the cooler the air charge will be. An example might be that 8lbs of boost from an A trim votech compared to 8lbs from an S trim will be very different as the 9lbs of boost from the A trim will be hotter (since compressing air heats it) than the 9lbs from the S trim. I hope that helps clear it up somewhat.
