Hey i have a new 306 with ford shorty headers, mac offroad h-pipe, flowmaster 40 series and cat back exhaust.on a 90 LX..im getting bored with the exhaust sound..and it want it ALOT louder...but i dont want have the money to do any crazy custom piping to fit louder mufflers..
do people do this and/or what would it sound like if i just out a couple inches of the pipe right after the muffler, and put dumps on it. and then just tied up the cat back tubing to keep that nice look of the pipes out the back...
would it be much louder? at idle and driving??
whats ur opinions..

i cut off my tailpipes and it sounded way better, than i put on the dumps, and it was quiet for some reason, so i took off the dumps and let it come straight out of the mufflers and its loud again mac headers, offroad h pipe, and 40 series is what i have, and its one of the meanest sounding cars in my area - that was w/ a stock motor also -

quiet with the dumps huh?? i heard that forwarding the exhaust to the ground makes it louder...hmm..
i wanna keep my tails coming out the back tho cause thats why i like lx's..but i could just cut out a section after the muff. and keep the rest of the tailpipes mounted up..would that be stupid?

Yeah that would be stupid.. IMO do one or the other.

i have bbk shorties (unequal) O/R hpipe and i chamber flos w/ no tailpipes or turndowns. easily the loudest car in the area. once i hit 1000-1200 rpm, car alarms left and right go off. my mom even said i made a baby cry once ( ilive across the street from a park.
