Get a tourqe converter before the gears. just trust me on this. best mod for a auto. get a PI ( percision industries) stallion 3000 stall . ( anything under 2800 is a waste of money)

the stall converter will help you more than gears. but when you install it remeber too do a shift kit and a trans cooler.

son't belive me , put a message out for people with converters and ask them what they think.

then after the converter get the 4.10's

yeah i aggree with him. i put a 3000 b&m stall in my 89 f150 which also has 4.10's and i got 4.10's for my stock 96gt, and honestly, my truck will kill my car within the first 200 foot or so, and all that has is a 302, with 2 1/2 in dual exhaust with longtubes. ps, truck runs 16.5's, but my car really catches up after im in second. havent had the car to the strip, dont need to blow 20 bucks for someone else to tell me its slow. 4.10s are fun to hit second with in my car, its an auto. i plan on a stall for it shortly after i think im in the 14's.

def a stall converter...

but no B&M bull**** converter... call up a known transmission company with EXCELLENT QUALITY.

you will NOT GO FROM 14.0 to 13.6 from GEARS alone lol

you MAY(if not a couple tenths lower) see that with a high quality converter, shift kit AND gears.

Do not install a shift kit. Do the Jerry mod or get a manual valve body. I run 10.3 with a 1.4 60 foot with 4.10's and a few other mods.

Gears are rought especially here in Ohio. There is so much interstate driving too. You can get anywhere in Columbus in 20 minutes. So with the snow and high engine speeds on a daily driver makes for poor traction and poor gas mileage. I had 3.73 but I want 4.10 this time. Probably has something to do with the fact that my car is not a daily driver though.

Do a search over at www.modulardepot.com and you will find an article written by Jerry W. as to why not do a shift kit. It will cause damage to your tranny. You can get a fully manual valve body from Performance Automatic, buy you then have to do all your own shifting. I have one and the shifts are rock solid. I also have a B&M Hammer shifter. I really like the combination, but I am a little more "hard core" than some people.

Many people recommend 4.30's for automatic N/A and 4.10's for 5-speed N/A.

Not too much for a non-power adder car.
