Quarter window removal question

To take the quarter windows out of a 87-93 hatchback, is there a special tool for removing the outside trim (seal) around it, or does the seal come off with the window when you undo the nuts inside?

I found a set for 40$ and they're going on my 86.

Unbolt and remove all there is to it... 40$ Nice find.. find me some too lol

I took mine out of my old (wrecked) car a couple of months ago. The rubber molding is attached to the glass. The window and molding comes out all in one piece. You have to remove the inside plastic quarter panel trim.... the big pieces that have the rear armrests in them. You may not have to remove them completely from the car, but they will have to be pulled inward somewhat. There are nuts that attach to screws mounted to the windows from the inside. I can't remember exactly how many there are, but there are several. Once those are removed, then you just have to slowly, CAREFULLY, pull on the window from the outside around all the edges untill it pops loose. It's sealed onto the car with black sealant. Make sure all of the nuts were removed before you start trying to pull the window loose. When I did it, I couldn't get it to come loose then discovered that there was a nut that I had missed. You can use the new windows you got to see where all the mounting screws are.
Then it would just be a matter of cleaning the sealant from the car and from the windows, applying new sealant, and re-attaching the new windows to the car and putting everthing back together.
