Question about Auto's and shifters .

Wow this threads been really helpful. I'm debating whether or not to buy a 02 Sonic Blue GT with 41k b/c it was an Auto. I would love to own a manual, but I can't seem to find any good low mile 5sp GT's for sale in my area, and if they were I've only driven stick once so I dunno how the hell I'd test drive it. I'm thinkin I'll get the auto and put some 4.10's, a TQ converter and J-mod it, and still have that "snap" :) .

If you want to go the blown route: keep in mind, blown autos doesn't lose any boost between shifts. It just keeps pulling. :)

In the end, it's really about personal preferance. I know even if a car has 999hp/999tq with an auto tranny, there are still going to be those who'll dislike it just because the tranny.

Well I made it back ! . Anyways , I am again in the hunt for another mustang , probably gonna be a clean 94-95 GT just too keep my insurance rates down . Or maybe I will splurge a bit and find a 99 GT so i don't regret buying the older body style .

I have since developed arthritis in both my knees , so the debate between AUTO or 5SPD still remains . But I think that Auto is going to have to do for me . Sore knee and clutching is not a good mix I can only assume .

I figure a tranny cooler and what ever that "J mod " can help me out , and if I need the extra "umph" than a 4.10 re-gear later on .

What Auto tranny mods will improve open track racing or just driving through the twisties ?
I am not much of a drag racing person , but country/mountain cruising is great .

Thanks for the reply's ( over the years ) .
