what is the difference between blower cams, stage I, stage II?

Is it unsafe or not feasible to have a blower with a cam besides blower cams?

I've read that cams for mod motor really come alive at 3500 rpm+..so wouldn't that compliment a centri perfectly?

I have no knowledge what so ever about cams, so I hope you guys can bare with the vage questions and ignorance....

thanks..

I may be wrong but from my understanding you DO NOT want an NA cam on a supercharged car, because of the valves being open at the same time, you wont make much power because of this.

If you think you are going to go with a blower at some time, then get a blower cam, unless you dont mind swapping cams again.

Stage 1's are meant for a more stock car (small bolt ons) and doesn't normally require a tune, cept for best performance. Not as much lope as a stage 2 but the numbers arent as good either.

Stage 2's usually require a lower gear to keep them in their powerband, and sometimes low end power/torque is lost, but it makes up for it in the higher RPMS.

I went with crower stage 2's and am pretty happy but the lope is lame. Doesnt make much noise at all. :( If its just COLD OUT and i floor it in third say gettin on the freeway, it'll pull and then when it hits 4k the tires break loose. lol

Forced induction works better with a larger lobe center angle and less overlap - the positive inlet pressure blows a portion of the charge right through to the exhaust during the overlap period. N/A setups normally work better with more overlap and a tighter lobe center angle as this aids in scavenging.

As far as "stage 1" and "stage 2" cams are concerned, you should ignore this monikers and look instead at the actual cam specs. You will find that some cam maker's "stage 1" cam is as aggressive as other cam maker's "stage 3" cam. Look at the duration at .050", and the lift to get a real comparison.

I'm looking to put VT cams into my 03 gt this spring. I'm looking for the mean idle sound and the power that come with a good set of cams. I am torn between VT stage 1's and VT stage 2's. The car is a daily driver, would stage 2's be too much? Will I not get the sound at idle with stage 1's? Thanks guys

Like streetstang said Stg 2's you need new springs. If you are taking it somewhere to do the install. I've been told it drives the cost WAY up. I was also told to get the full benefit of stg 2's you need ported heads. So yet again more $$.
