I have this aluminim rad,its already installed, but im curious why it has the temp sensor at the bottom of the rad?....assuming i was to use it?shouldnt it be at the top of the hot side??
Reason im asking is im changing out my black magic fan for a contour fan,im looking into the variable speed with temp sensor version controller, instead of the probe which i have now...can i put it there?

That is the hot side isn't it? Water flows out through the stat across the radiator out the bottom and back to the engine. Cool water is more dense and flows to the bottom of the radiator, hence in through the top out through the bottom. Some one can correct me if I'm missing something.

Looking at it again, that bung would be for a temp gauge sensor I believe. My DCC fan controller recommends putting the probe on the cold side near the outlet, which is where I mounted it.

Yes its the hot side, but lower?,it would be cooler there wouldnt it?....

Not sure if i should use that for my temp switch or find a spot from the engine?

I'm not sure if it would be significantly cooler because it hasn't flowed across the radiator yet. If you have your fan controller, check the instructions. Like I said, my DCC controller recommended putting the probe near the outlet, although a threaded in sensor may be different.
